Contrary to popular belief, money and fame (or any external success) are not the result of genius or luck — They are, in fact, symptoms of an identifiable, imitable behavior pattern.

“Sellout” is a derogatory term used to accuse and shame someone perceived as having changed, altered or disregarded their purported values or beliefs in exchange for something they want.

Research shows an uncomfortable truth about success, which is that the single, most influential factor in acquiring wealth, popularity or any other measurable form of external success is change. And furthermore, that the more radical the change, the bigger the external results.

The word “sellout” has been, and is used to discourage and punish examples of human excellence. However, once it’s “taken back” the power dynamic reverses and works against the shame-er.
